NKM 2010 Diary, Day 1

The NKM2010 from my point of view

Penguins on the beachFinally! May, or rather May 12th and everything's ready for the 12th Nordic Kite Challenge!

What started as a trip to Denmark in September 1999 with a friend of mine has now become tradition and the 12th of these meetings lay ahead!

The weather forcast looked reasonably well, and despite low temperatures and overcast skies, the meteorologists promised us nice winds ... and that's what we're after, right?!!

At work I was restless and could hardly wait to get out and head back home to pack the last few items into my car. I finally got off and with a quick pit stop at the local supermarked everything was ready.

Ivar arrived about thirty minutes late due to traffical havoc in Oslo, but now he was here and he opened the trunk of his car. It was litterally bursting with 'hardware' - as expected and soon the kitemobile was filled up with all of his gear. Thankfully leaving enough room for Anders' stuff too. Or at least that was our hope.

Soon we were hitting the road heading south onto the E6 with the GPS pointing to Anders' location in Gothenburg.

Not disturbed by heavy traffic we arrived Kvarnpiren - Anders' location - on schedule. The 30 minutes lost in the heavy Oslo traffic was made up for by steady driving on the southbound highway. Anders had prepared a small meal and it didn't take long until we tucked ourselves into our sleeping bags and soon we all were asleep.

 ....to be continued!
